Andrea R. Royal is the founder of Alexandria & Akea’s Playhouse, Inc. and the Mother of a special needs and typical growing child. As a parent of a child diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Ms. Royal realized that it was essential to create quality inclusion daycare, so that children could be recognized for their abilities and not inabilities. To address this issue, Ms. Royal established Alexandria & Akea’s Playhouse, Inc. (AAPI) a not-for-profit organization founded in 2001 to provide quality inclusion daycare, in a home setting for the special needs and the typical growing child. AAPI is an inclusion program that will give children with and without disabilities a chance to secure relationships with friends and enlighten peers. This in return will be the foundation for creating a mutual respect along with the understanding for the concept plus value of tolerance and diversity in the world.
In an effort to seeing the need and seizing the opportunity for the advancement of women, Ms. Royal implemented the first Women’s Empowerment Conference hosted by Alexandria & Akea’s Playhouse, Inc. in 2002. This conference will allow women to explore new career ideas, assist in turning passions into profit, become homeowners and achieve financial independence in addition to a host of countless empowering venues.
This conference not only addresses women on the move, but also donates the foundation for Akea, now a young lady, the opportunity to empower herself so that she too can have the same options offered to other women.
Again, Alexandria & Akea’s Playhouse, Inc. Women’s Empowerment Conference provides a full range of valuable topics conducted by industry leaders to give attendees well-rounded, accurate and useful information to empower their lives.
Today, Ms. Royal resides on Staten Island with her family and she currently holds an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts plus a Bachelor’s Degree in History as well as a minor in African-American Studies. Ms. Royal has also studied aboard in Guayaquil, Ecuador to further educate herself on Ecuadorian culture. |
