I was leaving the New York Public Library recently (Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, 42nd Street, NYC) when I noticed this dramatic display in the main library (seen above). This classically beautiful Beaux-Arts landmark building hosts many weddings and events, and one was to be held later that evening. However, this was the most dramatic flourish I've yet to see adorning any event here. This fashionable "bride" stood over twelve feet tall, covered in fresh flowers, and greets guests as they come into the lobby. This is classic Preston Bailey. In fact, his card was at the base of the display (a savvy marketing move).

I visit Preston's web site from time to time when I need a bit of creative inspiration. He is one of the premier event planners in the world with a signature sense of style. Two examples of his work are shown here. His event design has a dramatic yet playful flair and an unrestrained exuberance. As a WEB DESIGNER, I know that design is, to a degree, a reflection of the designer's personality. What we are as people can often be discerned by our creative efforts. There is a classic style in Preston's work balanced by a sense of warmth and emotion.

I admire the visual presentation and the great care that is taken to create an emotional experience through the use of color. The ideas seen in his work can be borrowed and applied to other endeavors and disciplines. PRESTON HAS A WEBSITE AND NEW BOOK as well!
