Textured backgrounds have always been a part of web design. However, many of the textures used in early websites often looked amateurish. I decided that a textured background would add interest to this WEB DESIGN FOR AN ARTIST'S PORTFOLIO WEBSITE. However, it had to be more stylish and abstract than what is commonly seen in web design.

I used a large abstract design that I created as the basis for the soft white strokes that make up the texture on the blue panels in the web design. The large strokes give a painter's brush effect that compliments the artist's work featured in this portfolio.

Why not try this approach to texture when you have large areas of flat color in your web design. It provides a subtle but dramatic touch to flat color panels in your design!
