Conservancy's Vision:

Our vision is to make a difference by changing the lives of our children. We want to teach them that their lives go beyond the concrete pavement. We want to expand horizons. We want to empower them, through education, so that they feel a sense of ownership. We want them to know they can make a difference and that is their power. We want them to feel a sense of value and a sense of spirit.

Right in the heart of Newark, we are building a green oasis for learning; an oasis for learning about the natural environment, about their world and beyond . . . it is the way the Greater Newark Conservancy's Urban Environmental and Ecological Center are giving residents of Newark something to call their own.

We are broadening the horizons of school children, inspiring urban educators, and educating and empowering residents. We are organizing communities and turning vacant lots into gardens. We are helping people find jobs through job training programs and helping residents to improve the health of their neighborhoods with our environmental justice program.

The Urban Environmental and Ecological Center will be alive with activity that reaches beyond its grounds out into every corner of the City. Renovations are underway. The list of supporters and contributors is growing.
