The Outdoor Learning Center $1,000,000

This garden and exhibition space will be the primary public facility at the Conservatory's campus. The Outdoor Learning Center is the place where the Conservatory's educational programs will come to life. Here, school groups will use classroom lessons in real-life applications, children will explore exhibits in the sun, moon and other environmental lessons, and families will come together to learn and enjoy a beautiful landscape in the middle of the city. The Center is designed with a variety of activities and exhibits that will encourage visitors to come back again and again. As the seasons change, so too will the displays of the Outdoor Learning Center. No one visit to the Center will be like the one before.

The Sundial Pavilion $250,000

As the main gathering area of the Center, the Sundial pavilion is also a place visitors learn about the immense power of the sun. In the center of the Pavilion is the paved mosaic analemmic sundial, where the shadow of the visitor tells the time of day. On one side of the Pavilion is a lawn area with sunflowers and other plants that thrive in direct sunlight. On the other side are some shallow, welcoming shaded steps, the Sundial Amphitheater.

The Sundial Amphitheater $50,000

Located in the Sundial Pavilion, the Sundial Amphitheater is where a guide welcomes the group and the explorations will begin.

The Water Gallery $150,000

This group of displays demonstrates the importance of water in everyday life, especially in an urban environment. Located on a pond, the Water Gallery houses many interactive exhibits that will grab the attention of children as young as two and old as ninety. One interactive exhibit will allow a child's hand to interrupt the ? power to a small water jet in the center of the pond. One exhibit will demonstrate the power of water in turning turbine wheel. A water pressure exhibit will allow ? to put pressure on a pad that will speed up or slow down the flow of water fro? A waterfall exhibit will show visitors how waterfalls can be transformed into a form of energy. A solar water cleaner will demonstrate how solar power can clean water. Finally, an erosion exhibit will allow a person to create a rainstorm (using a sp? bottle) on a model of a city that recreates run off and shows the difference between run off on paved areas versus planted areas.
